Garnier – SkinActive Moisture Bomb: The Antioxidant Super Moisturizer

Cost: $16.99

Rated: Not yet rated

From Ulta.com: “Floods skin with hydration and helps protect against daily aggressors for healthier-looking skin. With goji berry and hyaluronic acid–no oil, parabens, petrolatum. Delivers all-day, deep hydration. Helps prevent moisture loss throughout the day. Helps protect and preserve a healthy moisture barrier”

First Impressions: I was super pumped about this. I’ve heard a lot of great things about hyaluronic acid to help with hydration. However, I put a little on my hand just to test how it feels, and could NOT handle the smell at all. Super floral, gave me an instant headache (thanks allergies). So, I’ll definitely be returning. There’s just no way I could have that scent on my face all day. I will say it felt super moisturizing, but light, on the back of my hand, so if you can handle scents, might be worth a try!

Garnier – SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water All-in-1 Cleanser & Makeup Remover (Travel size)

Cost: $3.99

Rated: 4.5 stars

From Ulta.com: “This All-in-1 cleanser is surprisingly powerful yet gentle to skin. It effectively removes makeup, cleanses and refreshes skin. A multi-purpose cleanser that contains Micellar technology. Like a magnet, micelles capture and lift away dirt, oil and makeup without harsh rubbing, leaving skin perfectly clean, hydrated and refreshed without over-drying.”

First Impressions: I’ve tested this out just once, applying it with a cotton pad all over my face (no makeup). It’s usually how I test out face products, cause I need to check if my sensitive skin is going to have a reaction before I go to town scrubbing makeup off my face. So far so good. No irritation anywhere, even on my eyes. No funny smell. No residue left behind. Definitely has potential.

Tarte – Double Duty Beauty Shape Tape Contour Concealer

Shade:
Light (light skin with pink undertones)

Cost: $24.00

Rated: 4.6 stars

From Ulta.com: “Sculpt and highlight as you mask imperfections with this 2-in-1 full coverage concealer. The hydrating, longwearing formula delivers natural, radiant coverage across all skin types so you can instantly brighten and cover acne, dark circles and redness while softening the look of pores and fine lines. Wear it 1-2 shades lighter or darker, and it works as a creamy highlighter or contouring stick with a lightweight, blendable formula and tapered wand applicator ideal for precise strobing and sculpting. Powered by Amazonian clay and conditioning mango seed and shea butters, the nutrient-rich concealer helps promote skin elasticity and illumination with each crease-free application. Apply it with the all-in-one Quickie Blending Sponge (sold separately) for a quick, complexion fix and flake-free finish anywhere.”

First Impressions: Okay so a little background, but with my extremely dry skin I have a really hard time finding face products (foundation, concealer) that don’t look like garbage on my face. It’s not always the product, it’s just my dry, textured skin that doesn’t agree with a majority of products. That being said, I was still interested in trying this concealer because of all the hype. Can’t help it, I’m a sucker. I’ve used it a few times and I actually really like it so far. Looked really nice under my eyes, and covered my blemishes naturally. Dries down to a powdery kind of finish, and you can’t feel it at all on the skin. I tried it on the rest of my face – I have bad redness on my cheeks, and it did not look as nice, but that’s just what my face does. I’m into this product fo sho. Oh and the shade was a perf match. Pretty good shade selection.

NYX – Lip Lingerie Liquid Lipstick

Shades: Embellishment and Corset

Cost: $6.99 (I did buy one get one half off)

Rated: 3.9 stars

From Ulta.com: “Slip into something seductive with NYX Cosmetics’ Lip Lingerie Liquid Lipstick, a weightless liquid lipstick with a plush matte finish. Available in a range of color-kissed nudes, each sultry shade will coat the curves of your lips with irresistibly creamy color.”

First Impressions: I swatches these on my lips just to see the colors, but didn’t wear them throughout the day so I can’t speak on wearability yet. It’s a thicker formula for sure, which makes me a little nervous. Pigmentation was nice. Embellishment is a really pretty color, Corset looked like an odd shade of concealer to me. Looked weird lol. We shall see.

Essence – Nude Longlasting Lipstick

Shade: Cool Nude

Cost: $2.99

Rated: 4.1 stars

From Ulta.com: “A long-lasting nude! Essence’s bestselling Longlasting Lipstick is now available in gorgeous shades of nude. This rich and creamy lasting lipstick is moisturizing with intense color that lasts for hours. Not tested on animals.”

First Impressions: Smells like a cheap lipstick, like one I had as a kid. Sort of like play-doh? Not a bad thing necessarily, I just noticed it. It’s a really pretty color, and feels very comfortable to wear. I can’t imagine it’s that long lasting because of how creamy and moisturizing it feels, but that’s okay with me tbh. I don’t expect many lipsticks that aren’t liquid lips to last forever. At that price point, definitely worth checking out!
