I’m sure there’s plenty of you that have your go-to all time favorite lip balm you use year after year after year. Honestly, it can be really hard to find. I had just started using a new lip balm recently and at first totally loved it. Smelled amazing, went on smooth, hydrated my lips. What more could you want? But about a day or two later, my lips were a MESS. Like wayyyy more dry than they normally get in the winter time. It was so odd to me, but once I gave it a thought, I realized it was the new lip balm I had just started using.

I don’t know if it’s true, but there has been a rumor circulating for years that some lip balms are formulated to make you have to reapply over and over again. Again, I don’t know if this is accurate, but it’s certainly what I experienced, and big time. It took my lips a solid week to peel off all the dead skin and be normal again.

So, I went back to my trusty lip balms that I’ve used forever. I have a few reliable ones that I keep basically all over the place. One in my purse, one in my car, one on my nightstand, and an extra just for good measure. And these are the lip balms that actually hydrate my lips, and don’t cause any dryness whatsoever. I don’t feel like I need to reapply over and over again, usually once during the day, and once before I go to bed, and I am good to go.

If you’re in need of some quality balms, then keep on scrolling, I’ve got the goods.

1. Kiehl’s Lip Balm #1

Kiehl's Lip Balm

I’ve had this for over a year and have fallen in love with it. It’s thick, but doesn’t feel goopy at all on your lips. Lasts for a really long time after application, and really makes a difference in moisturizing your lips. A little goes a long way, clearly, since I’ve had it for over a year, and still feel like there is plenty left in the tube.

Also comes in cranberry, mint, and mango.

PS – If you’re purchasing, get 4.0% cash back using Ebates!

2. Glossier Balm Dotcom

Glossier Balm Dotcom

This is my most recent favorite added to my TOP lip balms of all time collection. It was gifted to me by the mom of the kids I nanny for my past birthday, in April, so it’s been a few months of use. I’ve been using this most often at night before I go to bed, and I can feel it still there when I wake up in the morning. Feels like it puts this protective layer of hydration while I’m sleeping that just keeps all the moisture in. My lips always feel great come morning. I have this in two other scents, which I’ve yet to try out, but I’m sure are equally as amazing. It also come in birthday cake, rose, and mint.

Also, this is technically a skin salve, so it can be used, as the Glossier box says, “on lips, on cuticles, on elbows, on your friend…anywhere that needs some love.” Word of advice, don’t go rubbing this on your friends.

3. Aquaphor

Aquaphor

I know you’ve heard of Aquaphor, but this is something I absolutely always have a tube of laying around somewhere. Doesn’t irritate, soothes, hydrates, and isn’t something you need to reapply multiple times a day. This is another one that can be applied in multiple different ways. I’ve used this on my hands when they’ve gotten extremely dry during the winter. Really, any dryness you’re experiencing, can be fixed with Aquaphor. Plus, can be found pretty much at any drug store or grocery store. I never buy the tub of it though because I can’t use that up fast enough and just seems sorta unsanitary to be sticking your fingers in there over and over again.

Lots of Ebates cash back opportunities at various drugstores and stores, like Target, Walmart. Be sure to check if you order online!

4. Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula

Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula Swivel Stick

This right here is my OG favorite chapstick that I have used for years and years. Like, we’re talking, since high school. I can actually remember purchasing my first one because apparently it was a pivotal moment in my life?? But, it was at Bed, Bath, and Beyond, because I would often go and get lost in the travel toiletries aisles (anyone else entranced by all those mini goodies?) This was one of the items in those aisles, and I bought it really just on a whim because I thought it looked like a glue stick. I have always been a big time chapstick addict and hadn’t yet added this one to my collection. It was love at first application.

Smells like chocolate, so so good. Extremely moisturizing. Very soothing, and just a great quality, affordable, lip balm. I’ve convinced my mom and friends to use this, and have yet to find one person with something negative to say about it. You really just can’t go wrong.

Same goes for this as for the Aquaphor – lots of Ebates cash back opportunities at various drugstores and stores, like Target, Walmart. Be sure to check if you order online!

Are any of these your favorites? Did I miss some that I need to try? Let me know in the comments!
