Over the past year or so I’ve been making an effort to switch to reusable products once I’ve used certain ones up. One of the switches I made being to reusable cotton rounds. Sharing a bunch other highly rated great options to choose from if you’re looking to make the switch as well, plus how I care for mine!
I use cotton rounds on a daily basis for makeup removal, touch ups, micellar water, toner, etc. So when I was thinking of what products I needed to swap out to reusable, cotton rounds were certainly high on my list.
For me personally, when thinking about swaps I needed to make in my life, all of the single plastic was the first things to come to mind. But there are so many other products that could be a bit more sustainable!
I’ve been making a conscious effort to pay attention to all of my single use products in my life, and trying to switch to more sustainable options as I use them up. I’m certainly not perfect by any means! Doing my best, making small changes as I go. Feels a lot more realistic that way versus feeling like I had to make ALL the swaps and do ALL the things on day one.
Every little bit counts!
I actually ended up receiving these reusable cotton rounds in the Home Detox Box I was gifted last year. Unfortunately it looks like that subscription box isn’t offered anymore, but I’m so grateful for the products and brands it introduced me to!
I actually like using the reusable cotton rounds much better than single use ones because whenever I would, I typically would get little cotton fuzzies left behind on my eyelashes and eventually in my eyes. No fun.
I’ve found the reusable cotton rounds are a bit more gentle on my skin, especially my eyes, so that’s a wonderful added bonus! I also think the reusable cotton rounds absorb a bit less of the product, so more of it goes onto your skin, and less goes to waste!
To use:
I use these just as I would any other single use cotton round! I do absolutely nothing different when using these, so there’s no learning curve whatsoever.
To clean and care for:
I only use these once before washing, just personal preference. Sometimes I will rinse clean with water depending on the product I’ve used before with them, or if I’ve used them to remove my makeup.
Then I place them in a small mesh laundry bag and once I’ve used them all up, or when it’s laundry day, I throw them in the regular wash!
A bunch online actually come with little laundry bags already, so you wouldn’t need to buy that extra. Although I do love those mesh laundry bags I linked above just for our regular laundry.
I personally put mine in the dryer, but you could also lay flat to dry. I recommend readying some reviews to see what the best way to care for yours are!
