I have been wanting to make SO many switches when it comes to single use plastic, and one of the first I made was ditching the plastic K Cups. After trying a few different options, I finally feel like I’ve found the best reusable K Cup, and I wanted to share it here in case anyone else was in need! Or if maybe you also are hoping to ditch a few of the single use plastic items in your home as well.

Here you can find all of my other reusable product faves!

Whether you’re looking to reduce your plastic usage, or your a bit of a coffee snob and prefer to use your own beans, this seriously is the best reusable K Cup and I hiiiiighly recommend.

Switching to a reusable K Cup was one of the first swaps we made. Truthfully, we made the swap in order to save money because those single use K Cups ain’t cheap. But once I made the decision to start reducing my single use plastic usage, I was glad we already had tackled one thing and made that swap.

We previously were using a different brand of reusable K Cups, which worked fine for a while. However, eventually we were having some trouble with our Keurig. It was brewing cups that were wayyyy smaller than we set it to. Like 2 oz instead of 10. Way less. And ya girl needs her 10 ounces.

I thought it needed to be cleaned and descaled, but once I cleaned it out and did some troubleshooting, it was still making these measly little cups of coffee that just were NOT cutting it. I also realized that when I used it for just hot water, the right amount of water was coming out.

Anyways, I thought maybe it was our old K Cups, and decided to grab some new ones.

I decided to try a new brand on a whim, for no real reason tbh. Just couldn’t find the old ones we had, and didn’t want to eventually run into the same issue of them no longer working. These were recommended on Amazon, so I primed them on over to try.

Basically, long story short, I fell in love with a K Cup. Who knew that was possible?!

And I’m definitely not the only one. On Amazon these K Cups have a 4.4 out of 5 stars from nearly 3000 reviews!

How To Use The Best Reusable K Cup

It’s easy peasy!

It’s made to fit into a variety of Keurig machines. It works with the Keurig K Series, Keurig Elite, Classic, Ultra, & Special Edition, K-Mini, Office Pro, and Keurig Vue. Basically, if you have a Keurig, it will fit.

So you fill it up with your fave coffee grounds, close the lid, and pop it in the Keurig just as you would any other K Cup.

Press brew, and bam, COFFEE.

Once you’re done, I recommend rinsing out as soon as possible. We honestly never do this but it’s easier to clean out when you do it right away. We usually run them through the dishwasher once or twice a week to really clean them out.

PS – if you’re more of a tea person than coffee, these would work well for loose tea too!

We personally don’t use filters in the pod and just rinse them out. But, if you’re looking for some eco-friendly filters, these have really high ratings!

Soooo, why is this the best reusable K Cup, and why should you switch to reusable? Glad ya asked.

First of all, that price point tho.

It’s under $9 for 4 reusable pods.

But let me break that down in terms of what kinda savings you’d be looking at by making the switch.

We personally are v cheap when it comes to coffee, even though I’d probably rather not be but whatever, tryina save that money. So I’m going to compare the Amazon brand of coffee to show you the general savings you could expect.

A box of the Amazon brand of Columbian Medium Roast K Cups, Solimo, costs 29.99 for a box of $100, breaking down to $0.30 per K Cup/cup of coffee.

A bag of AmazonFresh ground coffee costs $12.39, which is $0.39 per ounce. We personally use about half an ounce to fill the reusable K Cup, so each cup of coffee is $0.195, however it’s recommended to use 2-3 teaspoons (.25 ounces), making each cup $0.0975!

(also only just realized we were majorly overfilling…….oops)

If you’re having one cup of coffee per day, that’s a savings of $74 per year. For every person who drinks a cup of coffee, you can another $74. Two people in your household drinking two cups per day? That’s a savings of nearly $296 per year!

And the savings would likely go up depending on if you drink higher quality beans.

Second, helping the planet.

One cup of coffee per day, is obv 365 per year. So all of those single use K Cups add up. And they typically are made absolutely impossible to clean out and recycle (if they even are recyclable.)

That’s a LOT of plastic you’d be saving over time!

Again, two people drinking two cups per day, that’s saving 1460 single use K Cups per year. SO MANY!

Third, you’re free to be a coffee snob and use whatever beans you like best.

Since you can fill this K Cup with whatever type of coffee your heart desires, you can use your own personal favorite beans and ensure you’ll be having the absolute freshest cup of coffee.

Like I said above, we are cheap when it comes to our coffee. But I know the second we branch out and use a higher grade coffee bean, we’re absolutely screwed and would never be able to go cheap again. Holding off as long as possible!

Fourth, you have the freedom to customize your cup.

You can make it as strong or weak as you want! Which isn’t really an option when using a K Cup.

Clearly we go for strong since we tend to fill it up to the top with grounds.

You can make your own half-caff cup of coffee by mixing decaf and regular.

You can get a little creative and add spices, which has been my recent favorite thing to do. I’ll add like half a teaspoon or so of pumpkin pie spice and it’s SO so so good.

One of my followers on Instagram also shared that if you add a liiiiittle bit of salt to the grounds, it helps to cut the bitterness!

Fifth, and most important, they’re high quality reusable K Cups and incredibly easy to use.

These K Cups use 100% BPA free plastic.

They’re dishwasher safe, and hold up really well in the dishwasher.

You can throw them into your Keurig any which way, you don’t have to line them up a certain way, and they’ll work perfectly.

They’ve lasted us a long time already, and show no signs of wear yet!
