I’ve found the absolute best classic black bag and after using it for the past year-ish or so, am so excited to be sharing it with you today. It’s simple, stunning, practical, and I’m in love!

I’ve been trying to be mindful with any clothing + accessory purchase lately to keep classics in mind. I am trying to steer away from trendier pieces, or ones I’ll feel I won’t be interested in wearing long term. I want to spend my money on items that can go with a variety of outfits, and I know I’ll get a lot of wear out of them. Especially when the items are a bit more expensive than your average Target purchase.

I recently downsized my purse collection because they were mainly bags I never used anymore! I went through a big Coach phase in late high school + early college, as well as a few other designers along that same price range. I’ve held onto them for years but don’t use them anymore. I’ve outgrown some of those styles and I’d rather stick with simple, classic bags.

I’ve basically been trying to capsule-wardrobe-ify everything in my closet, bags included. The two first on my list, were a classic brown/camel bag, and a classic black one. If you have those two, you pretty much are set to have a bag that will go with every single outfit!

I wanted something timeless. That I can use down the road when I have kids and not feel like it’s too young to me or too impractical. That will be able to fit all my essentials, and not look bulky and misshapen. Of course, go with my outfit as well! I’m also at the point where I don’t really want something that can’t be at least converted into a crossbody.

Anyone else think this hard over adding pieces into their closet?! Can’t tell if it’s a good or bad thing. But at least I’m resisting impulse buys and being mindful of what I’m adding into it.

I’ll be 100% honest, this was an Instagram ad buy! They got me real good with this one. I wasn’t even searching or talking about bags at all, so basically Instagram must be reading my thoughts at this point? This was the exact bag I was envisioning adding to my collection and BOOM an ad appeared.

Creepiness of ads aside, I am SO the algorithm sent this my way. It’s absolutely stunning!

I didn’t purchase it right away and sat on it for a while, but kept thinking about it! That’s typically what I do with bigger purchases I’m deciding on. If days or weeks go buy and I’m still really thinking about that purchase, I know it’s something I’m truly interested in and it’s not an impulse buy.

Anywaysssss……drumroll please……

Ain’t she pretty!

The Pearl is a convertible bag that comes with two different straps, one to make it a wristlet/clutch, and one so it can be either a shoulder bag or crossbody. The longer strap is adjustable.

It has three compartments inside, two zipper ones, and one in the middle that can be snapped closed. The middle compartment also has a zippered pocket, and two slip pockets. It has an attached strap with a clip for you to add your keys to. It also can fit mini sized tablets!

It comes in two different types of leather – Saffiano and Nappa.

  • Saffiano – a high-quality durable scratch & water resistant leather. Has a more structured feel.
  • Nappa – a smooth buttery soft nappa leather.

Mine above is the Nappa leather, I wanted it to be a little more buttery and smooth, and have more give to it.

There are a bunch of different color + metal options to choose from.

On the Lo & Sons website, it has an average rating of 4.7/5 stars from 961 reviews!

Although it’s a smaller sized bag, it definitely can still hold plenty. Easily holds my wallet, phone, keys, makeup bag, and the various other things I tote around with me all day. I’ve had no problem with fitting everything I need! And it doesn’t look weirdly shaped either.

It certainly isn’t the least expensive bag I own, but imo it’s not that bad for the quality and wear I know I’ll get out of this bag!

I’m so glad I added The Pearl into my rotation and have this in my closet. It’s a timeless piece that I know I’ll be wearing for many years to come!
