Rainy Day Date Ideas:

1. Hit up the local museum

We all have those local museums we always say were going to go visit, but never do for no real reason at all. At least that’s the case for Scott and myself.

Rainy days are the perfect time to take advantage and explore all that those museums have to offer!

2. Have a movie marathon in your cozies

This is probably my personal top choices because it involves my favorite things – cozy pjs and movies on the couch.

Whether you’re watching the classics, showing each other your favorites, or finding something new you’ve never even heard it, it’s going to be a cozy and fun time for all!

Building a fort is always an option to amp up the coziness factor.

3. Grab all your rain gear and go jump in puddles

Pretend you’re kids again and get wet! Find your local park and jump into all the puddles you can find. Bonus points for splashing each other.

Of course, please don’t go and do this if its thunder storming.

4. Dig up your old video game consoles and play

Anyone else holding onto all of their old video game consoles but rarely pull them out to play? Here’s your chance! Dig them up and challenge each other to your faves.

5. Head to your local coffee shop

Whether it’s a favorite, or a new one you want to explore, spend some quality time taking in the ambiance.

Pick out some funky new drinks and do a taste test!

6. Puzzles + games

I mention this in my At Home Date Night Ideas post, but rainy nights spent inside are the perfect time to put out the snacks and pull out the puzzles you’ve been meaning to do, or the funniest games you have on hand.

7. Visit a local distillery/vineyard/cidery/brewery

These seem to be popping up left and right! Perfect way to get to taste a few different things and figure out what you like.

8. Try out an escape room

I personally have yet to try one out, but have always wanted to! A rainy day would be the perfect time to try your hand!

9. Do a wine+painting night

There are so many studios that offer this option as a fun way to get out of the house and get a little arts and craftsy, even if you’re not so great with arts and crafts. I don’t think you need to be all that skilled in order to do these, so don’t let that hold ya back!

10. See a magic show

Tell me this doesn’t sound like such a fun idea!!

11. Go bowling

Whether it’s regular, with bumpers, or duck pin, it’s ALWAYS so much fun, I don’t even know why!

Try out different techniques. Nail down your strike. Work on that split. Or just be as silly as possible. Whatever you choose, you are guaranteed to have fun!

12. Find a local game bar or arcade

Another favorite, and go to option for me and Scott whether it’s raining or perfectly sunny.

These seem to be on the rise, so I’m sure you can find one nearby. Pinball, skeeball, old school arcade games, shuffleboard, so many options that will keep you entertained for hours.

13. Cook a delish meal together

Look up a recipe you’d never be bothered to cook during the week, or something that’s a bit out of your comfort zone, and take the time to cook that meal together!

14. See a comedy show

See who the comics playing nearby are and check them out! Open mic nights can also be fun (and maybe a bit awkward, you never know.)

15. Take a cooking lesson

Maybe go for a dish you two have always wanted to learn, or something totally out of your comfort zone. Great way to meet other people too!

16. Go iceskating

Find a nearby iceskating rink and have at it. Don’t forget to bring a few dollars for the hot cocoa that you absolutely will need!

17. Browse nearby thrift stores and antique shops

These can be so much fun, and you never know when you’re going to find a hidden gem!

18. Hang out in the local bookstore

Find the cozy corner of your local bookstore, grab a cup of coffee, and read!

19. Get a couples massage

A very intimate and definitely relaxing way to spend a rainy afternoon or evening. Find an available spa nearby and see what services they have to offer!

20. Live Music

See what shows are playing nearby and grab some tickets! Maybe someone you like is playing, or maybe you can check out someone you’ve never heard of!

21. Tour a local factory

See if your city has any cool or uniques factories that offer tours and check them out!

22. See a show at your local theater

Whether it’s a bigger theater, or something on a smaller scale, seeing a live show is always fun!

23. Go to a shooting range

Especially recommend if it’s something you’ve never done before. Always interesting to try something new!

24. Take a dance lesson

You have to be a little on the brave side for this one! But local dance studios typically have lessons for couples you can sign up for.

25. Go to a bounce house/trampoline gym

Although you might end up crashing a kids birthday party, they definitely still allow adults and look SO fun!

26. Indoor golf/top golf

Top Golf seems to be all the rage lately, so that would definitely be fun to try. But if not, indoor putt putt is always a fun option.

27. See the ballet or a dance show

Especially a good idea for the holidays and getting to see the Nutcracker!

28. Go laser tagging

Again, you run the possibility of crashing a kids bday party, but oh well! Laser tag would probably be more fun as an adult because you’d be much better at it (or at least I’m hoping I would be).

29. Take a fun workout class together

There are SO many fun workout classes available now. You two could be really brave and try your hand at a pole dancing class too. But you can only do that if you send me pictures!

30. Go to a game

Any local teams playing? Even minor leagues or college level would be a fun way to spend an evening!

31. Go to your nearby park and take a stroll

Grab your umbrellas and rain gear and take a walk around the park! You’d likely have the place all to yourself, and a little rain never hurt anybody!

32. Go roller skating

Tbt right?! Anyone else have D.A.R.E. parties at their local roller skating rink in elementary school?

33. Indoor rock climbing

If you’re feeling very adventurous, or just in the mood for a really good workout, you could hit up your local climbing gym!

34. Paintballing

An outdoor activity that typically can be played rain or shine. Just be sure to wear clothes you don’t mind getting mud and paint all over! Don’t forget some extra padding too.

35. Mani Pedi

Alright, so not every guy is going to be up for this, but having nice nails is never a bad thing!

36. Drive in movie

See if your city has a nearby drive in movie theater and check out what they’re showing. Don’t forget to bring the snacks!

37. Look up “best things to do in my city” and see what options are available

You never know what hidden gems are within your own city!

38. Have your own wine tasting

Look up a guide online, or ask at a wine shop for a few recommendations and do an at home taste test.

39. Shopping/mall

Window shop, or shop shop. Try out any cool places at the food court. Hit up the candy store.

40. Mixology class for couples

This would be such a fun class to take so you can learn how to make all those cool fancy drinks at home!

41. Have a cook off

Find a recipe you both want to cook and do a cook off! Do a blind taste test afterwards to see who won.

42. Go to the movies

A classic option! Of course had to throw this one in here!

43. Productivity date

Knock out a bunch of those to-dos you two keep putting off! Blast some music and do a deep clean of your house. Make it fun, but make it productive!

44. Craft beer tasting

Some places let you do a mix and match 6 pack, which would be a great way to try a bunch of different beers to see what y’all like.

45. Play a silly taste test game

This was all over YouTube a few years ago and sounded hilarious! Each of you buy a bunch of random things from the grocery store without the other knowing, and then have them taste them and try to guess what they are!

46. Thinking of a new skill to learn and watch tutorials on YouTube

YouTube has a tutorial for pretty much any thing you can think of! Always wanted to learn how to salsa? Tutorial. Want to learn how to properly chop onions? Tutorial. Want to learn how to fold the perfect little paper football for triangle football? Tutorial.

You get the idea!

47. Indoor dance party

Crank up the tunes and dim the lights. Have fun!

48. Try out all the bars you’ve wanted to go to

Any places you’ve been meaning to go but just haven’t gotten around to it yet? Nows your chance!

Or create your own bar crawl of your faves or new spots you’ve heard good things about.

49. Bake a fancy dessert together

Find a recipe for a really delicious looking dessert, grab all the ingredients, and get to baking!

50. Decorate your house for holidays

Of course only works if a holiday is coming up, but a rainy day stuck indoors is a great time to decorate! Bonus points if it’s Christmas and you can play some Christmas music.

Okay so, was I right? Was there at least one good idea above that you’d be willing to try the next time it’s raining!? I bet I was!

If I left any out, I’d love if you left any of your own rainy day date ideas below so we can keep this list going!
